Happy New Year! I pray that 2012 brings many blessings to you and your family!
During this holiday season, everything “i” by Apple, Inc., has been popular—the iMac, iPhone, iPad, and iTouch are selling in record numbers. According to an Apple press release from October 18, 2011, the company reported a quarterly net profit of $6.62 billion. “Customer response to iPhone 4S has been fantastic,” said Apple’s CEO Tim Cook.
While I am happy an American company is performing so well in this lousy economy, may I propose that for 2012 we focus on the biggest “I” there is—the great I AM.
In Exodus 3:14 God revealed himself to Moses by saying, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’ He is everything, and I want Him to be my everything so I can be whole in Him.
The question remains, what is truly important for us in 2012? I suggest plugging in to the great I AM and having the best possible connection. Jesus said He is the only way to the Father: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
Luke 12:7 teaches of the great value God places on you and me: “Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” The truth that God knows the number of hairs on my head assures me He knows every detail about my life.
God wants to connect with you and me. He desires a relationship with us. So let’s connect with God in 2012 like we never have before. We all know we cannot do this on our own, so let’s pray for encouragement, strength, and wisdom in the name of Jesus (John 14:14).
In 2012 let’s go for power—the power of the Holy Spirit. I want to be strengthened so I can accomplish many things for God, my family, and my work. If I want to connect with God more, then I need to pray more. I need to spend time chatting with God and getting to know Him better. Jeremiah 29:13 offers an encouraging word for everyone this New Year: “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
All the gadgets and electronics have enhanced our interconnectivity with our friends. Yet the best “i” there will ever be is the great I AM. Let’s connect and stay in touch with Him like never before in the New Year.
